Chinese artist Zheng Bo shortlisted for APB Foundation Signature Art Prize

On 31 July 2008, the Singapore Art Museum and APB Foundation announced the 10 artworks shortlisted for the prestigious regional Art Prize. The 10 finalists representing nine countries in Asia Pacific, including China, were picked by an international panel of jurors from an initial list of 34 nominated artworks from 12 countries. These artworks represent outstanding movements in the field of contemporary art in the Asia Pacific region in the last three years.

Zheng Bo, the Chinese artist whose artwork was one of those chosen in the final 10, joins nine other artists in running for five awards in mid-October - Three Jurors Choice Awards worth SGD10,000 each, a People's Choice Award worth SGD 10,000 and the Grand Prize SGD 45,000.

Out of the three categories of awards which each artist stands to win, the People's Choice Award is distinctive in that it is the only award that is not conferred by the jury. On 1 August 2008, an online voting website was launched so as to allow the public to vote for their favourite artwork.

Voting is still ongoing on the website http://www.nhb.gov.sg/sam/signatureartprize/vote.html and it will end at 7pm on 12 October 2008. On this website you can vote from their favourite artwork. Online voters will automatically be entered into a lucky draw where they will stand a chance to win a Canon Digital Camera.
