Official: All Uygur pilots working normally in Xinjiang
All Uygur pilots serving the country's airlines were working normally in China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and none had ever been relocated to work for other airlines outside the northwest region.
Li Jian, the Civil Aviation Administration of China deputy director, on Tuesday dismissed foreign media stories that Uygur pilots had been suspended from their jobs as "sheer fake reports."
To date, Chinese airlines have employed three Uygur pilots. Twoof them, Aikebaier Maimaiti and Ailiyiming Niyazi, served as Boeing 757 captains for the Xinjiang branch of China Southern Airlines, while the third, Dulihong, worked with the Xinjiang General-use Airlines.
Aikebaier Maimaiti recently completed a two-way international flight between Urumqi, the capital of Xinjiang, and Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, on Tuesday morning. He told Xinhua in a phone interview, "Since August 1, I have flown 36.05 hours on routes between Urumqi and Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Xi'an."
On Wednesday morning, he will fly between Urumqi and Islamabad, Pakistan.
Ailiyiming Niyazi told Xinhua he had flown safely for a total of 17,542 hours. Since Aug. 1, he had worked on routes between Urumqi and Hotan, Xiamen, Shenzhen, Zhengzhou and Changsha.
All pilots, no matter whether they were Uygur or Han people, had to work according to schedule. It was normal that sometimes they worked on flights outside Xinjiang, said Zhang Zifang, China Southern Airlines deputy general manager.

Southeast China provinces brace for typhoon Nuri
Typhoon Nuri continued to intensify as it maintained its course towards south China on Wednesday, according to the meteorological station in southeast China's Fujian Province.
The eye of Nuri, the twelfth tropical storm this year, was 700 kilometers south of Xiamen City at 8 a.m., packing winds of up to force-13, or 144 kilometers per hour, in the center, said the station.
Nuri was moving towards southeastern coastal areas at a speed of 20 kilometers per hour, and would enter the South China Sea on Thursday.
Fujian's seashores were hit by gusts of up to force 8 on Wednesday morning. The observatory forecast heavy rain in most areas in the province in the next two days.
Fujian and neighboring Guangdong Province in south China had been dominated by lingering heat with temperatures rising to 37 degree Celsius. The observatories expected the impending typhoon to cool the air.
The meteorological station in Guangdong forecast heavy rain in the eastern part of the province from Friday to Saturday.
The Ministry of Agriculture on Tuesday night issued an urgent notice requiring fishery and agricultural departments in Fujian, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Shanghai, Anhui, Jiangxi and Guangdong, to keep the public informed and help fishing vessels avoid risks.

Many go mobile to get Olympics news by cellphone
A record 250,000 subscribers used their cellphones in or around the National Stadium to share the excitement of the Olympics opening ceremoney there on Aug. 8, a telecommunications company official said on Tuesday.
"That's a new record in Olympic history, nearly double the number of mobile users during the Athens Olympic opening ceremony in 2004," a spokesman with the China Mobile said here.
He said some 110,000 conversations were made through the China Mobile network per hour during the ceremony at the "Bird's Nest".
"We built 565 more mobile base stations around the 'Bird's Nest' before August 8," said China Mobile President Wang Jianzhou. "So we ensured a 100 percent connection rate for all users that evening. Even during the peak hours, only 70 percent of the network's full load was taken up."
According to mobile operators, international roaming fees have been substantially reduced. That for cellphones from Italy, for example, declined from 21 yuan per minute to 13 yuan, while that for Egyptian phones fell from 6 yuan to 4 yuan.
Since the Olympics started, 200,000 foreign mobile phones have been taken into Beijing, of which 70,000 are active every day. During the opening ceremony, more than 22,000 international roaming calls were recorded in and around the "Bird's Nest".
Meanwhile, mobile users are able to log onto the official website of the Olympics to watch live games being broadcast. Statistics show that 226,000 subscribers watched the opening ceremony via cellphones.
Another 12 million people also subscribed to the "Olympic Mobile News," which sent multimedia messages to individual cellphones.
